AMVs

Welcome to our humble Anime Music Video page!

At this point, I believe that all of our videos are in .mpg
format, with few exceptions (see below).
You can find all but a few of them at
animemusicvideos.org (their amv.org profiles are accessible
by clicking on each entry below, or you can go to our
individual creator profiles: Starherd and Kasra.
Those that aren't on amv.org either aren't premiered yet, or
(bandwidth willing) can be found here.

If you are unable to download the videos via animemusicvideos.org,
and would prefer them to be sent to you on cd, we can do that, too.
Just use this email form to send us your name and
physical address. If you'd like to send a little money for shipping
(heartily encouraged but not required), just say so, and we can tell
you where to send it. :-)

Also, thanks to boiya of Kyou's Dojo, at least our
Possession and Sleep Now videos are available on her FTP server (24.99.24.45, L/P: kyou/kyou, port 21).

To download, right-click (on a PC)
or hold down the "option" key while clicking (on a Mac)
on the "download" link beneath the image of the video(s) available here,
or follow links to animemusicvideos.org for the videos hosted there.

Beware - some of these videos are full of spoilers
(they're marked as necessary).

And now, On to the Videos...

Title: Sleep Now
Anime: Yami no Matsuei
Music: Sleep Now (Hughes Hall,
Dark City Soundtrack)
Category: Action/Occult/Teaser
Notes: Our second video ever. Woohoo.
Made as a sort of trailer for
Yami no Matsuei/Descendants of
Darkness -
We're told that it's great for
getting people interested in
the show. :-)
Premiered at Yaoi Con 2002
Winner - Judge's Award, Best Technical
Made with iMovie

Unexpectedly, this video has been
totally remastered using the CPM
(domestic release) DVDs, and
a shot or two has been changed
(though the main difference is
just video quality). However,
this remastered version can't
be posted to amv.org until this
old one can be deleted, and as
far as I know, we can't do that
yet. We'll post here when we
can. (Not enough room to host
the remaster here.)

Title: Possession
Anime: Yami no Matsuei
Music: Possession (Sarah McLachlan,
Fumbling Toward Ecstasy;
Piano Version, hidden track.
Also on the Due South soundtrack.)
Category: Drama
Spoilers!
Notes: Our fourth video.
Focuses on a different
character in each verse.
Aaaaaaaangst.
Premiered at Yaoi Con 2002
Winner - Judge's Award, Artistic Runner Up;
Audience Awards, Best Drama &
Audience Favorite
Made with iMovie

Untrue_Accounts has written
a really wonderful review of this video,
which can be found here.

Note: We used Hong Kong DVDs for our Yami no Matsuei footage
in these three videos (see above note about Sleep Now).
Yami no Matsuei (known as Descendants of Darkness here) has
been released in the U.S. by Central Park Media (CPM).
You should buy it.

...Even though the dub is hysterically funny when you're used to the
Japanese voices. I mean, Muraki sounds like the Brain. *lol*

Title: Read Another Day
Anime: Read or Die (OAV)
Music: Die Another Day (Madonna)
Category: Action/Adventure
Spoilers!
Notes: The Fifth Video.
It only took me about halfway through hearing this
song to figure out what to do with it. :-)
With Kasra's help, I did some overlay with Premiere -
my first try with that program. This sortof
summarizes the 3-episode OAV... and was
a lot of fun to make!
Premiered: Fanime 2003
Made with iMovie,
with finishing in Premiere

Lightfeather on Animemusicvideos.org also
combined this anime and song (see here).
When I first saw the movie (and heard the song), and
checked on amv.org to see if someone was doing it already,
her entry was there, but had been there unchanged so long
that I thought that the project was defunct, so I went
ahead anyway. Turns out we both made and finished
concurrently, and we both entered the Fanime 2003 contest!
(Neither of us won, but hey, it was fun!)

Title: A Killer Smile
Anime: Weiss Kreuz
Music: Disarm (Smashing Pumpkins)
Category: Drama/Character Profile
Spoilers!
Notes: The Sixth Video, and Kasra's first! She says:
Poor, poor Omi...
The song was just too perfect for our favorite
angsty little assassin. The main challenge lay in
finding enough good animation to make a decent-
looking AMV without resorting to the really
crappy outsourced stuff rife in most of the series.
We like to think it was a success :-)
This video was made over a period of about 4 months.
It seems to be the average learning curve
for a new video editing program.
Premiered: Fanime 2003
Made in Adobe Premiere 6.5

Title: Dark Fantasy
Anime: Final Fantasy VII (game)
Music: Dark (Gary Numan, Dark City Soundtrack)
Category: drama/character profile
Spoilers!
Notes: The Seventh Video.
I, Starherd, adore Final Fantasy VII... so it was
only a matter of time before I started to try
to make videos with it. As it is, I love the way
this has come out. It was quick and easy,
comparatively - I already had the song (which I
also love) memorized, and I'd had the idea in
mind for a long time. The hard part was getting
a decent quality copy encoded... *sigh*
...oh yeah... it works as a character profile, sortof,
if you take the lyrics as being from Sephiroth's
point of view. No, I'm not biased or anything...
Mmmm, Sephiroth.

the second video. Yep, it's
Yet Another YnM Video from WTF!
It's all about Tsuzuki's dark

Title: Irish Enchilada
Anime: Weiss Kreuz (Knight Hunters)
Music(?): Irish Enchilada (Ricker)
Category: Comedy
Notes: The twelfth video, and the
second attempt at comedy.
It arose from the thought that
Farfarello (with his white hair
and narrow yellow eye(s)) is
just about as Irish as Irish
Enchilada (a radio sketch by a
sometimes-local DJ). That, and
the thought that there need to be
more Farf/Omi videos.
Premiered: KatsuCon 2004
Made in iMovie,
finished in Premiere

Music: What is Love? (Haddaway)
Category: Comedy/Parody
Notes: The first (and so far,
only) video of
C & C Productions
(the husbands of Starherd and
Kasra). It's the only Eva
video you'll ever need.
(Except for that Engel
video, it rocks.)
